Gardening Cross Stitch Kits
April 28th, 2007Just the other day after our big Nor’easter was finally over with, I went out to my garden and much to my delight it had NOT floated away! And, the weather warmed up right after the storm, which was really quite chilly, and I was absolutely thrilled to see things coming up! We didn’t have much of a winter here with snow, hardly any, but we had a fair share of ice and bitter cold at times. Ice can do so much damage to a garden.
Which I guess was why I was thrilled to see the roses ~ both yellow and red ~ had made it with flying colors, very little die off and nice, healthy green leaves and lots of ‘em! My lilies also were coming up, and apparently had gone forth and multiplied underground sometime because there are a heck of a lot more of them coming up than I had planted! YAY!!!!!
Then there are the very pretty indigenous purple and white violets, and the false garlic with it’s beautiful six pointed white star-like flowers. The violet is actually New Jersey’s state flower so of course I’m happy to have that in my garden! Besides which I love purple and white. Now if only I could co-erce our state bird, the Goldfinch, to take up residence in my garden……… I can’t complain. I have red cardinals, lots of robins, purple finches, sparrows of all types, but that Goldfinch sure would make it perky with that bright yellow and black……. We always want more, don’t we! ![]()
