Bejeweled Accessories

While many jewelry artists and designers are covering the gamut of bejeweled accessories these days with car jewelry, cell phone fobs, zipper pulls, fan chain pulls, bookmarks, picnic tablecloth clips, and more ~ of which I can happily say I’m also guilty of a few of these creations myself, I’ve turned my attention to other ways of expressing bejeweled and beaded creativity.

I’ve launched a very small, very preliminary line of designer handbags, tote bags, purses and evening bags. I love to crochet, don’t mind the teeny tiny stitches at all, and just adore creating something that is other than jewelry.

That being said, I simply love the beaded look of yesteryear, beautiful Victorian style of hundreds of tiny beads bedecking a purse or evening bag, bringing graceful glitter to a utilitarian piece that is used for special occasions. The beaded glitter takes utilitarian and turns it into eye turning, feminine wearable textile art.

Thus we have the marriage between jewelry design and textile design.

This is what I am talking about:

I have another blog that discusses, displays and sells some of my textile art and needlework. I’ve had a grand time displaying this particular evening bag in several of it’s developmental stages………… why not take a stroll over to my Crochet and Cross Stitch at Jewelry Collectibles blogsite and see some of the ways I’ve expanded my artistic talent and creative energy?

A Season of Changes

Every season brings with it some tasks to keep our lives straight ~ clean up, clean out, streamline ~ all in the effort to hopefully make our lives run smoother.

No different with websites, blogs and businesses.

I’ve decided to slowly start transferring all of my crochet and cross stitch products over from my website to this blog, with integrated e-commerce abilities, so that I will only have to manage one site instead of two. I will also get the added “perk” of additional exposure for my products that are on sale. I thought this over carefully before even making the slightest move.

Word Press allows us to make a website out of our blogs simply by utilizing the “pages” we can write, and gives us the ability to get everything out in the mainstream very quickly by utilizing the “posts” feature.

Which means, you can create website pages, as you can easily see in my right hand column right under the PAGES heading, and you can promote very easily by utilizing normal blog posts that go out into syndication, which essentially gets the entire kit ‘n caboodle “out there” a heck of a lot faster and more expediently than running both a website and a blog.

My shopping cart is Mal’s cart, and by utilizing the simple one line HTML string for each shopping cart item, instead of the form button feature, I am able to easily integrate my shopping cart into my blogsite. It’s secure shopping at it’s best, and easy to go from blog article to the actual item should you want to purchase it immediately. No going from blog to website and all around the block.

When I am done transferring all products from my website to my blogsite, I will simply add a permanent redirect code to my old website pages to the new blog pages for the search engines.

This cuts my work directly in half, instead maintaining both a blog AND a website, I will just be maintaining a blogsite. Cool beans!

And yes ladies, for those of you kind enough to comment on that gorgeous evening bag I created, there are more evening bags in the works!!!! Definitely a lovely new product line for me in the works!
