I’m a bird, reptile and fish person. Love cats and dogs too. Don’t have ‘em, but love ‘em.
Here are some more pics of my precious kids.

Above is Snugglebuggy and Honey, my two beautiful cockatiels! Snugglebuggy (the big blonde guy in front) is going to be 17 years old on April 27th. He is a love and my best friend. He’s my sweetie pie and my boy. I raised him and his twin sister from two weeks out of the egg. Unfortunately Sis left us when she was 12, very suddenly, broke our hearts forever it seems, but she’s waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge, so that’s some consolation. Behind Snuggles is his little best friend Honey, she’s going to be 4 in September. Two better friends I never saw. She was mistreated when she came to us and is doing MUCH better now. What a sweet girl!!

Next we have Violet (the really blue little fellow to the left) and the love of his life, Peppy Pep-O-Mint Pipsqueak Peppermint, known for short as “Mint”, because she’s so minty fresh!! They are the Couple of the Year, a love match made in Heaven and the sweetest two parakeets together that I’ve seen in a very long time.

Here is Petunia. A very sassy, smart, perky girl with a gorgeous teal green tail and teal blue feathers. Tuney, as we call her for short, is a bird who doesn’t socialize well with other birds when in the same cage. Hence, she stays by herself right next to her best friends Violet and Peppy. My cockatiels Honey and Snuggles wander over and visit her often but are quick to move as she is a biter and we don’t want them missing toes. She is a sweet bird in her own way and a good singer too. Tuney loves to watch my betta fish, Sunrise and Sunset and my iguana Liz loves to watch Tuney.

Above are Hoover and Spot. They are telescope eyed goldfish that just landed in our family yesterday. Hoover is in the front, and lives up to his /her name! Spot is in the back and I’ve called him / her that due to the pretty black markings on the tail. Spot is definitely shyer than Hoover who has the more outgoing personality!

Above is Miranda Oranda. She is a baby oranda goldfish who also landed here yesterday. Miranda was savagely attacked by another fish and her entire dorsal fin (the top fin) is gone. She also developed a rather serious infection from this attack which has spread down her left side a bit and down her right side a great deal. She is shy and refuses to show her really damaged right side to the camera (I don’t blame her!) She is quite medicated ~ or rather her water is ~ with aquarium salt and Melafix, which is made from tea tree oil. Miranda is a little over an inch long and has quite a large bit of damage on her right side. She still may not make it but I believe with love, good care and proper diet and meds she will. She’s very friendly and has quite sweet personality. She’s in a very girly pink tank with a pink and red glow in the dark plastic plant behind her and beautiful red stones and is very happy and wiggly!
What sweet companions all my animals are!! I have 5 birds, 5 fish and 1 sweet iguana who at this time is recovering from a major illness and heart attack ~ yes, you read it right ~ heart attack! I love them all as if they were my human children. I read somewhere someone asking if goldfish “qualified” as pets! I also have an elderly friend who told me back when she was growing up her family had a canary. The bird was never named, and was referred to as “it”. She told me her family never considered the bird as a pet but as a, and I quote, a “decoration”.
I don’t know about these viewpoints concerning animals. All I know is that without these guys my life would be empty, void, and without substance. I love my animals and am very grateful to God for loaning His little angels to me to take care of and to love. They give me unconditional love, devotion and yes once in a while they are PITA’s, but that’s ok. Mommy loves each and every one of you!
