New Pet Pictures ~ Our New Beta Fish & Pics of Liz my Iguana

I got these two guys the other day after my poor iguana had to go to the vet because it’s “that time of season” and I wanted to be sure she was alright. After the vet visit, we went to Petco and Liz (my iguana) was all snuggly in her big carry case, could see everything, and so I plopped her in the kiddie seat of the shopping cart and she got the grand Petco tour. I had to pick up something for one of my parakeets so decided Liz would be better off seeing another view of the world rather than waiting for me in the car.

I daresay she had a blast ~ she was looking at everything! Of course we stopped by the Fish department to look at all the beauties swimming around. And, of course, there were plenty of male beta fish to be found. I can’t resist these guys, they are so beautiful. So Liz and I strolled around til we found the perfect 2. One is a very light lavender with iridescent blue in the rays of his fins, with plenty of dark blue/red coloring nearer his body which is pink. The other is almost a typical dark red one except that when the light hits him he’s an absolute beauty in purple!

I got them a duplex ~ a nice hex shaped bowl with a neat divider down the middle so they can be together yet can’t attack each other. The lighter one is named Sunrise and the darker one Sunset, strictly due to the fantastic coloring of each. Sunrise is more friendly, and Sunset is a little shy-er and skittish, but they are both so happy with any attention they get and swim, flare their fins and in general show a friendly greeting.

Here are “the boys” ~ this is Sunrise

and this is Sunset ~

and here is a neat shot of both of them swimming (divider in the middle) ~

and here is Liz ~ swimming in the bathtub during her daily bath / soak, and then later on patrolling in the family room ~

Lizzie is almost 4 feet long and almost the length of the bathtub. She is 3 years and 6 months old. My pride and joy, I rescued her in September 2006 wandering around lost, cold, scared and hungry sitting on my porch.

Isn’t she beautiful? My birds, all 5 of them (three parakeets and two cockatiels), just love the fish, and just love Liz. In fact, they call her “Birdie”!!

Wedding Prom Formal Beaded Jewelry Squidoo Lens Finally Updated!

Took me a while to get back to updating my Squidoo lenses with all that’s been going on lately, plus, I wanted to give them a new look and do something easier for me to maintain.

After I spent a while thinking about it, and exploring other fellow Squid lenses, I decided to go for slideshows. It’s great because I can put all my pictures into my pro Flickr account, and then from Squidoo I can choose the Flickr module which gives you the slideshow option.

I polled a few friends about it ~ whether they preferred the static picture and write-up arrangement as opposed to the slideshow deal. Everyone preferred the slideshow so off I went with that. It’s much easier to maintain as well ~ when I create a new batch of wedding or prom jewelry I just add a new set to Flickr and then add a new slideshow. In the meantime all I need to do is update the actual information on the page to keep the content fresh.

One slight issue is the fact that the Flickr slideshow doesn’t do well in Internet Explorer, it’s a known issue which I read about after a friend mentioned it to me I saw a thread on it in the Flickr forum. So I put a note at the beginning of each slideshow that it would be best viewed using Firefox.

So, go check it out! There are 45 pairs of earrings, 45 bracelets, and over 55 pictures of wedding and prom necklaces to look at! And there is a link in each section back to my website in case something really catches your fancy! I have a great deal on some free stuff for any bride who orders jewelry for at least 5 of her bridesmaids!!

5 New Crocheted Ladies Tops Added to Fashion Line

I’m pleased to announce the expansion of my ladies crocheted fashion line!

There are 5 new spring and summer crocheted tops on the way ~ from halters to chic retro tops to camisoles and a summer weight shawl.

Each item (shawl not included) will be available in bust sizes of 32″, 34″,  36″, 38″ and 40″ in an elegant color array and all tops will be custom made to order! Since none of my work is ever mass produced, I’m anticipating that each top will take at least 2-3 weeks to complete from the time of your order.

These lovely crocheted ladies tops will be the perfect fashion accessory for your wardrobe for any special to formal occasions you may be attending from late spring to early autumn such as garden parties, weddings, proms, dinners, theatre nights and the like.

I will keep you posted on my progress as I get the prototypes completed. I’ll probably show you some works in progress as I go along, I enjoy doing that. Then comes the photo shoot ~ my good friend Eva has agreed to be my model which is great since I’m the photographer and I can’t very well model my own work! LOL

At any rate stay tuned for further developments on these new fashion tops in crochet!
