Merry Christmas with a handcrafted gift
December 25th, 2007Today is Christmas Day, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
For us “big kids” there is no tapping of reindeer hooves on the roof at midnight, no jolly old Saint Nick trying to squeeze down the chimney, although for the wee folk, they certainly are there, even if the house the little ones are in is without a chimney!!
I think the entire North Pole crew works for the benefit of the wee ones! And then hopes that when the wee ones become big ones, they will continue the tradition of giving and spreading joy with each other. Kind of setting us an example of how to be. Nice.
Christmas exists only because of one event in history. Somebody’s birthday. A little baby boy Jesus, far from just any ordinary “somebody” ~ was born, and Kings came to give him gifts. This is the only reason Christmas ever became an event or a holiday.
A woman at one of the arts and crafts shows I was exhibiting at this past autumn made a profound statement to myself and my friend who was in my booth helping me, and I don’t think she realized it in the least. I want to share that with you.
I had my handcrafted Christmas ornaments hanging from a display in my booth. The woman was going through them, and held up this one shown below and asked us this question: “Don’t you have anything more Christmas-y than this??”
I’ll leave you to think about that.
Happy Birthday, Lord!! Merry Christmas World, with hopes of peace, plenty and love for the next year.
